HYDRO-KINETIC incorporates its own pretreatment system and processes wastewater through five stages designed to reduce maintenance, minimize the risk of clogging, and exceed compliance targets.

Treatment Principle

The Water Cycle, Simplified.

Wastewater flows through various chambers where solids are separated, pollutants are broken down by natural bacteria, and the effluent is then clarified and filtered before it exits the system.

How It Works

A Complete, Step-by-Step Process

1

Integrated pretreatment

The first section traps coarse solids and protects the rest of the system. HYDRO-KINETIC thus eliminates the need for a separate septic tank upstream.

2

The Action of Microorganisms

The second section quickly puts the treatment microorganisms to work to break down small solids, reduce nitrogen, and decrease the volume of sludge that needs to be managed.

3

Bioreactor

An injection of pressurized air ensures that the water and microorganisms mix. This step, the heart of the system, treats pollutants without an internal filter or media that could become clogged.

4

Clarification and Biomass Return

The biomass settles at the bottom of the clarifier and is then returned to the pretreatment stage to continue the degradation of primary sludge and the reduction of nitrogen.

5

BFR Biofilter

The final compartment uses a synthetic medium with a very large surface area to which bacteria attach. Since the water is already highly treated, the medium does not need to be cleaned or replaced.

6

Complementary Solutions

For sensitive, clayey, or rocky environments, the system can be combined with an AT-1500 UV disinfection unit or a PHOS-4-FADE phosphorus removal filter.

Maintenance and Savings

A system designed to avoid unnecessary recurring costs

Traditional systems or media-filter systems, such as ECOFLO or BIONEST, may require costly cleaning, backwashing, or replacement procedures. HYDRO-KINETIC, on the other hand, relies on a robust hybrid treatment system that minimizes the need for these major interventions.

Septic Tanks, ECOFLO, and BIONEST

Current regulations require septic tanks to be pumped every 2 years for primary residences and every 4 years for secondary residences. However, this schedule does not take into account your lifestyle, whether you are careful about what you flush down the drain, your level of usage, or the actual occupancy of the home; you are still responsible for paying the pumping fees according to the established schedule.

With HYDRO-KINETIC

Primary sludge is pumped out only when necessary, based on the measurements and inspections performed by our technicians during the annual maintenance. In most cases, our customers do not need to have their pretreatment system drained before the fifth year or perform a complete system drain before the tenth year, which reduces the number of service calls and quickly saves several hundred dollars.

Your questions, our answers

What makes HYDRO-KINETIC different from a traditional septic system?

HYDRO-KINETIC stands out because it does not require a separate septic tank. The system incorporates a pre-treatment stage (in its first two compartments) from the outset, followed by a highly efficient multi-stage biological treatment process. The result is a sustainable, robust solution designed to provide long-term peace of mind.

Is there a risk that HYDRO-KINETIC will become clogged like some filter systems?

No. HYDRO-KINETIC is designed to avoid this problem. Its treatment core includes a free biomass biological reactor, meaning there are no filters, no plastic supports, and no risk of clogging. In addition, its final biofilter (BFR) receives water that has already been heavily treated, meaning it will never clog and its media never needs to be cleaned or replaced.

What are the environmental benefits of the HYDRO-KINETIC system?

HYDRO-KINETIC offers significant environmental benefits: it reduces the need for emptying, which decreases sludge transport and therefore greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. It also stands out for its ability to reduce total nitrogen, an element that can be harmful to aquatic life and problematic at certain concentrations in drinking water. Finally, its permanent design eliminates the need to replace filter media and limits labor, waste, and material consumption.

Why do we say “BYE BYE SEPTIC TANK”?

Because HYDRO-KINETIC operates without a conventional septic tank, unlike most systems on the market. It replaces this function with its integrated pre-treatment compartments, eliminating a component that is often costly to maintain and requires regular emptying.

How often should you change the oil with HYDRO-KINETIC?

With HYDRO-KINETIC, primary sludge is only removed when necessary, based on measurements and checks carried out during annual visits by specialized technicians. In general (with some exceptions), most customers have their pretreatment system pumped every 4 to 5 years, and sometimes even every 5 to 7 years, which results in significant savings compared to the mandatory emptying every 2 to 4 years with a traditional septic tank.
